Purpose
The following features on a prescription can be edited:
- Prescriber endorsements - E.g they may change inline with the NHS drug tariff.
- Dispenser instructions - E.g. a patient may have been bed bound but is no longer.
- Review date - E.g the review date changes after a review has happened.
This guide will show you how to view and the above properties of a prescription in Medicus.
Points to note:
- You cannot edit any clinical properties on the prescription by using the guidance in this article. For this, follow the guidance on 'Changing Drug or Dosage of a Prescription'.
- You cannot edit a repeat dispensing prescription after it has been issued as Medicus cannot communicate the updates to the dispenser.
Navigating to the care record
There are two ways to navigate to the patient record within Medicus:
- Using the patient finder.
- By selecting a patient from the patient list, located in the Patient Administration module.
Once you select the patient you'd like to view through one of the methods outlined above, you'll be taken to the clinical care record.
Editing a prescription
A prescription can be edited from a patient's Clinical Summary page or Medication Regimen page. Select the medication you'd like to edit to open the 'View Prescription' screen on the right hand side of the page.
To edit the prescription, click on the pencil icon.
This will open up the 'Edit Prescription Details' form.
Once you have edited the details you want to change, select 'Save changes'. The changes should now be visible within the prescription.
