Purpose
In order to create appointment availability, you must first setup one or many appointment services. The appointment services that you set up should mirror the services that you run in your GP practice and offer on your practice website. Some examples of appointment services are:
- GP Consultations
- Asthma Clinic
- Phone Triage
- Minor Surgery
This user guide will show you how to add, view and archive appointment services in Medicus.
Once in the scheduling module, select Configuration on the left hand side navigation bar.
You'll be taken to the Appointment Services tab where you can see a list of active and archived services.
Adding a New Appointment Service
To add a new appointment service, select the New dropdown button in the top right hand corner and select Appointment service.
This will open up the Create Appointment Service form. Create an internally facing name for the appointment service that's recognisable to your internal teams.
You can also add a patient facing name that patient's will see when booking appointments online.
Select Save once you've completed the form and the service will now be active, and you'll be able to schedule appointments against this appointment service.
Editing an Existing Appointment Service
To edit an existing appointment service, select the service you'd like to edit from the active services list.
This will open up the Edit Appointment Service form where you can edit the internal name and/or patient facing name of the service.
Select Save changes when completed.
Archiving a Service
Appointment services can be archived and unarchived.
To Archive a service, simply select the Archive Service button from the Edit Appointment Service form.
This will open up a pop-out confirmation form.
If there's no impact to any existing appointment diaries or queues, you will be informed of this.
Once a service is archived you'll no longer be able to select the appointment service when setting up new appointment availability.
Note: If you try archive an appointment service that is used on an active template, a warning message will alert you of this on the pop-out form. If you proceed with archiving a service currently used on an active template then the template will flag in the system as requiring an update.
