Purpose
Through GP Connect, you are able to book appointments at other practices directly from Medicus. For example, if after a consultation a patient needs to be booked into a service not available at your practice, but available at a local practice that you have a relationship with, you can book their appointment directly. To do this, the other practice needs to be configured as an additional appointment provider within the system. This user guide will show you how to add and manage other appointment providers in Medicus to enable cross-organisation appointments.
Navigating to the scheduling module
To navigate to the scheduling module, select 'Scheduling & Appointments' from the modules menu on the left-hand side navigation bar.
Once in the scheduling module, select 'Configuration' on the left hand side navigation bar.
Select 'Appointment Providers' to be taken to the appointment providers tab.
Adding a new appointment provider
To add a new appointment provider, select the 'New' dropdown button and then 'Appointment provider' to open up the 'Add Appointment Provider' form.
Search for the organisation you'd like to add and select save.
Once successfully saved, you'll now be able to book and manage appointments at this organisation for your patients.
When adding a provider, it's important the provider is set up for GP Connect Appointment Booking to enable cross-organisation appointment management. If a provider is not set up, you will be unable to add them as an appointment provider.
Viewing or removing an existing provider
To view additional details or remove an existing appointment provider, simply select the appointment provider from the current providers list to open up additional details on the right hand side of the screen.
Select 'Remove Provider' if you'd like to remove the provider.
