Purpose
The purpose of appointment queues is to manage shared lists of patients that need to be seen at some point during a given time period. This user guide will show you how to create an appointment queue in Medicus.
Navigating to the scheduling module
To navigate to the scheduling module, select 'Scheduling & Appointments' from the modules menu on the left-hand side navigation bar.
This will take you to the appointment book view where you can setup an appointment queue.
Creating an Appointment Queue
To create an appointment queue, select the 'Actions' button in the top right hand corner from the Appointment Book and select 'Add new appointment queue'.
This will open up the 'New Appointment Queue' form.
You'll be asked to enter basic details about the appointment queue such as:
- Appointment service, duration and delivery mode
- Start and end date / time
- Site - where the physical locations responsible for the queue is
- Default slot category
You can also:
- Create the appointment queue on multiple days within the scheduled week
- Copy forward to multiple weeks (a maximum of 52 weeks)
- Set an appointment booking rule - for appointment queues these are limited to when internal booking openings only
Note: GP Connect booking is not an option for appointment queues because GP Connect booking only supports booking appointments into fixed time slots.
Once you've completed the form, select 'Continue to review'.
This will bring up the 'Confirm Appointment Queues' screen.
Check everything is correct. Once you're happy and ready to proceed select 'Confirm & create queues'.
The appointment queues will be created in Medicus and will be visible from within the appointment book, ready to book patients into.
