Purpose
This page will show you how to view and interpret the Childhood Immunisation Schedule in Medicus. You’ll learn how to quickly identify which vaccines a child or young adult has received, which are outstanding, and how to use this information to support safe, timely, and informed immunisation decisions.
Overview
The Childhood Immunisation Schedule in Medicus shows the latest UK vaccine timetable for patients under 25. Since immunisation schedules are updated frequently and differ by country, the schedule is regularly updated to reflect national guideline changes, monitoring official sources to keep it current.
Navigating the Care Record
In Medicus, the Childhood Immunisation Schedule is located in the ‘Immunisations’ tab, positioned above the immunisation history within the patient’s Care Record.
The schedule is presented as a simple table with seven rows, each representing a specific age or age range aligned to routine UK immunisation milestones. For each row, the following details are shown:
Date: The recorded date of the immunisation, or ‘Unknown’ if not available.
Age: The patient’s age at the time of immunisation, with a note if the date is an estimate.
Immunisation: The vaccine given, if recorded; otherwise, this field is blank.
The layout provides a clear overview, allowing users to quickly determine if a child is up to date with the recommended schedule.
Viewing Individual Immunisations
Each row is clickable, opening a detailed view of the corresponding immunisation entry (See example below)
Editing Individual Immunisations
From the 'View Immunisation' field, you can update the immunisation details by selecting the pencil icons and manually editing the relevant fields, then choosing 'Save changes'. All fields can be edited except for 'Administration Status' and 'Administering organisation'.
You can also 'Mark as Incorrect'.
Having selected 'Mark as incorrect', you will be prompted to either:
- Mark as incorrect only
- Remove from record
You must give a reason in order to save this change.
Marking an entry as incorrect will strike it through, but it will remain visible in the immunisation record and can be reversed if needed. Removing an entry, however, permanently deletes it from the record with no trace. To do this, you must tick the box 'I confirm that I would like to remove this entry from the patient's record' before selecting 'Save'.
Note: All childhood immunisations can also be viewed within the patient's journal.
